Nevada Tahoe K-12 Leadership Group

The Nevada group is currently inactive. The Nevada Tahoe Conservation District has submitted an initial proposal to NDEP for 319h funds which would be used in part for a project at Incline MS. If funding is obtained, the group will likely be re-started.

This leadership group is composed of a number of individuals and the agencies and organizations they represent, primarily in the Incline Village area, though the group also works with Zephyr Cove & Stateline.

Group involved include: Adopt-A-Watershed, Lake Tahoe Environmental Education Coalition, Incline Village public schools (Washoe CSD), Lake Tahoe School, Marine Reseach and Education, Sierra Nevada College, Incline Village General Improvement District, Space Science for Schools, US Geological Survey.

The major inititives of the group are:

• identify funding for a Community Coordinator
• support and develop lesson plans for the Teach Tahoe curriculum project
• support classroom teachers and schools through:
  • professional development opportunities/li>
  • teachers stipends/li>
  • field trip transportation funds
• participate in a restoration project in the community/li>
