The Lake Tahoe USD within Eldorado County, covers the southwest quadrant of the Tahoe Basin, including South Lake Tahoe and Myers.

The district has been very strong in place-based learning and service learning in the past, recognized as a leader in environmental education, and was a CalServe service learning grant partner for several years. Several teachers are continuing to create and implement projects.

Due to budget shortfalls, the district will close Myers ES and Al Tahoe ES starting with the 2005-2006 school year, and the students who formerly attended these schools have been redistricted to attend the other elementary schools.
