The Tahoe-Truckee USD covers the northwest quadrant of the Lake Tahoe Basin and the middle Truckee River area within California, including the towns of Tahoe City, Kings Beach and Truckee, California.

The district has a strong leadership team in place-based learning and service-learning, the Place-Based Service-Learning Partnership (PBSLP). PBSLP includes a site advocate position at each school and an active calendar of professional development activities which are documented on the PBSLP page along with key contacts. The district has a moderate but increasing committment to PBL and S-L through the curriculum refinement initiative which is being managed by Eastern Sierra Institute for Collaborative Education (ESICE) and the PBSLP.

Two schools have strong place-based service-learning language in their school sites plans, Tahoe Lake ES and Sierra Mountain MS, and several others make brief mention of PBSL.
