Washoe County School District

Washoe CSD in Nevada covers the northeast quadrant of the Lake Tahoe Basin, as well as the entire lower Truckee River watershed. In the basin the two communities are Incline Village and Crystal Bay, while in the rest of the watershed the prominent communities are Reno, Sparks, Verdi and Wadsworth.

The district does not have a strong committment to place-based learning or service-learning, however, several teachers in the Incline Village schools have long been active in creating and implementing projects. The teachers work with Incline Village GID on some projects. The elementary school hosts an Earth Day for students every year, which emphasizes standard-based learning in the local environment and restoration.
