Earth Day Trashion Show
Every year, SWEP Envirolution students bring the Trashion Show to the main stage at the Earth Day Festival at Palisades Tahoe.
Tahoe Truckee Earth Day is the largest Earth Day celebration in the area. This free, environmental education community event provides residents and visitors an opportunity to learn about the various environmental issues that affect the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee region. SWEP is proud to be to a longstanding partner in this event, providing Sustainability Club students the opportunity to engage in environmental advocacy by inspiring community action and participation in stewardship efforts.

Advocacy in Action
Trashion Show Assemblies empower students and the community to take action towards sustainability efforts in the areas of energy and water conservation, waste reduction, composting, wildfire prevention and preparedness, and climate change. High school students take center stage, wearing unique outfits they created out of upcycled materials, while sharing environmentally-focused messages tied to each design.
Here, SWEP Envirolution student, Lily Fay, showcases her original choreography, wearing a self-made costume
decorated with up-cycled plastic water bottles. Her performance raises awareness about the impact of plastic pollution
and celebrates the upcoming reduction ordinance on single-use water bottles, set to take effect in Truckee on Earth Day 2025.
